From Planning Trips to Serving Communities: My December Return to Jamaica

In December 2025, I returned to Jamaica — not for vacation, not for luxury travel planning — but to serve.
After Hurricane Melissa impacted the island in late October, I attended a briefing on October 29 to understand the scope of recovery efforts. While airports reopened and tourism slowly resumed, many local communities were still dealing with the real aftermath: structural damage, limited supplies, and families rebuilding their daily lives.
Less than two months later, I boarded a flight not as just a travel advisor — but as a daughter of the island coming home to help. Thanks to the Jamaica Board of Tourism (JTB) for the warm welcome and invite to "Come Back to Give Back".

🤝 Supporting Relief Efforts on the Ground
During my time there, I connected with local leaders and community members to assist with relief coordination and distribution of essential supplies. Recovery is not a one-week headline. It’s long-term work.
Even as tourism resumed and travelers returned, many neighborhoods were still:
Repairing damaged roofs
Restoring water access
Replacing lost household items
Supporting elderly and vulnerable residents
And that’s where we stepped in.
💛 Thank You to the Donors
I want to publicly thank everyone who contributed financially, donated supplies, or shared the relief information.
Your generosity helped:
Provide basic necessities to families
Support community-level rebuilding efforts
Bring comfort to individuals who felt forgotten after media coverage slowed
You did not just “donate.” You showed up.
As a travel professional whose business is deeply connected to Jamaica, it was important to me that FoxTrotRox Travels not only promote the island when it’s thriving — but stand with it during recovery.
That matters.
✈️ Tourism & Recovery Can Coexist
One thing I witnessed firsthand: Jamaica is resilient.
All three international airports were open, and resorts were operating — some with limited services at first — but communities were still healing in quieter areas.
Tourism plays a role in recovery. Responsible travel helps local economies stabilize. But compassion must lead the way.
As your travel advisor, I believe in:
Informed travel
Ethical tourism
Supporting local communities
Giving back when possible
This trip reminded me why I do what I do.
Travel is not just about destinations. It’s about people.
